Furniture Accents
Once you have chosen the call of your room and added furniture, it is time to add your own creative individuality. Blinds are a cheap and cushy way to finish window dressings. Add fancy swags and bond backs to full length curtains to make a room look luxurious and comfortably plush. If you requirement a touch of color, consider a rug, especially if you have a wood or tile floor. It adds heat and texture to an otherwise bland room. Pictures also add to the atmosphere of a room. For a humanities bedroom add fleecy watercolors on abstract or humanities themes. For a kitchen, add pictures of wine, french café scenes or farmyard animals. You can be as modern or as customary as you want to be, and it will influence the feel of the room.
Lighting a Room The mood of a room is set by lighting. Flickering candles and a log fire create a restful, relaxing atmosphere for watching TV or conversation with friends. Brighter lights are good over a dining table and good lighting is essential for reading, employed in the office and cooking in the kitchen.
Lights can be controlled using a dimmer switch which is easily wired into an existing light switch. From bedroom to lounge, dimmer switches are a great intent and add value to your home too. Set lighting at different levels in a room. Wall lights and sconces are good, or use standard lamps for a higher level lighting, then add lamps at a lower level beside chairs for reading. Pictures haw be highlighted with spotlights to add a focal point. |
